Lohmann Animal Health offers pure L-Carnitine in three different formulations for specific applications.
L-Carnitine is a vitamin-like nutrient. In the body it is mainly synthesized in liver and kidney. L-Carnitine is responsible for intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids from the cytosol into the mitochondria, an essential first step for the vital process of generating energy on the cellular level. Additionally, L-Carnitine serves as a depot for Acyl-CoA (= “energy storage”) and removes short chain organic acids from the mitochondria (detoxification).
Depending on the physiological status of the animal, the endogenous synthesis of L-Carnitine covers about 25 % of the daily need. Especially in vegetable feedstuffs the Carnitine content is low and although Carnitine can be absorbed efficiently in the small intestine, an additional feed supplementation is recommended to ensure an adequate supply. Corresponding benefits have been observed in pets, horses, pigs, poultry and ruminants.
Carniking
CARNIKING contains 50 % L-Carnitine and was developed for the use in Premix, Mineral Feed and Compound Feed for monogastric animals. Improved body condition and resulting benefits for muscle constitution, heart health, liver function, fertility and the activity of the immune system have been observed when utilising CARNIKING.
Carnifeed
CARNIFEED consists of 100 % L-Carnitine. This product is recommended for the use in liquid feed formulations only.
Carnipass
CARNIPASS contains 20 % L-Carnitine. By applying a rumen protected formulation, this product was specifically developed for supplementation of ruminant feed. CARNIPASS improves the energy supply during lactation and reduces the risk for ketosis.
