LanguageLohmann Animal Health GmbH is a family company with a long tradition in the poultry sector. Heinz Lohmann and Paul Wesjohann started in the agriculture trading business in 1932.
With the formation of the Lohmann-Wesjohann group in 1987, two family dynasties deeply aligned with the poultry industry built a new strong group of companies.
Lohmann Animal Health was founded in 1996, with the amalgamation of TAD Veterinary Section and Lohmann Tierernährung (LTE) to form a strong bastion dedicated to poultry health.
And since 1998, with the split of the Lohmann-Wesjohann group in two parts, Lohmann Animal Health has been part of the PHW (Paul-Heinz Wesjohann) group. PHW is a group of 40 innovative companies which are among the leading enterprises in their markets of nutrition, health and agriculture. The companies policies give absolute priority to quality and safety as well as full responsibility for the final product.
The acquisition of two poultry vaccine laboratories in the USA, namely Maine Biological Laboratories (MBL) in 1997 and Vineland Labs in 2000, has added not only to the Lohmann Animal Health range of products, but also into our historical load and tradition in poultry vaccine making.
Kenneth Eskelund founded Maine Biological Laboratories in 1957 and Arthur Goldhaft, founder of Vineland Labs, started his own poultry vaccine making in 1914. That actually puts Lohmann Animal Health as the longest-serving poultry vaccine company in the business.
In 2006 Lohmann Animal Health introduced a new brand to consolidate the three different vaccine ranges into one core product line under one name: AviPro. "Avi", of course standing for AVIAN, pertains to our target species birds and "Pro" is an abbreviation of the words PROFESSIONALS and PROTECTION. Not only that, but the connotations of "Pro", either as an adjective for "favourable" or "supportive", or as a "forward"-associated prefix, will elicit positive messages of our engagement and support to the poultry industry.
Hence, the brand name AviPro exactly describes our company’s expertise as the avian professionals actively providing avian protection to the poultry industry.
