Lohmann Animal Health GmbH & Co. KG is a family company with a long tradition in the agricultural industry.
Heinz Lohmann and Paul Wesjohann started in the agriculture trading business in 1932. Heinz Lohmann founded the German fishmeal Factory in Cuxhaven which later became the corner-stone of all Lohmann companies, while Paul Wesjohann started as a country trader with a hatchery.

In 1967, Lohmann Tierernährung (LTE) – an animal nutrition company – was founded.
The Lohmann group then started to produce its own veterinary products, which resulted in the foundation of TAD in 1968.
With the formation of the Lohmann-Wesjohann group in 1987, a strong collection of companies with wide knowledge in the poultry industry was created.

The amalgamation of LTE and the veterinary section of TAD in 1996 resulted in the foundation of Lohmann Animal Health.

In 1998 the brothers Paul-Heinz and Erich Wesjohann agreed to split the Lohmann-Wesjohann Group into two equal divisons. The family of Paul-Heinz Wesjohann took over the companies that today form the basis of the PHW Group.

With the acquisition of the American companies, MBL (Maine Biological Laboratories) in 1997 and Vineland Labs in 2000 Lohmann Animal Health extended its engagement in the vaccine business and Lohmann Animal Health International was established.
